On August 18, 2025, Bojangles made a huge announcement. It's a "monumental moment" for the fast - food chain.
Bojangles plans to open over 50 new locations in the U.S.
This expansion includes the chain's easternmost spot and a comeback to a major U.S. city after being there briefly in the 1980s.
For a long time, Bojangles, a North Carolina - based fast - food joint, was only in the Southeast. But its reach gradually grew. It opened places in the Midwest, especially in Ohio and Indiana. Then it finally made it to the West, and there's even a spot in California now.
However, in the Northeast, the most crowded part of the U.S., there are just a few scattered Bojangles locations. And New York City, the biggest city in the country, hasn't had a Bojangles since the 1980s.
So, when Bojangles said it's opening its easternmost location yet, we got really interested. Having southern biscuits, Cajun chicken, Bo bites, great breakfast sandwiches, and yummy Bo - Tato rounds close by? Count us in!
Get ready, New York and New Jersey! Bojangles announced over 50 new stores will open in the two states in the next decade.
In a press release, Bojangles said it signed an agreement for 20 locations in New York City. The plan to bring more restaurants to the NYC area has officially started. Construction on the first location, in Brooklyn's East Flatbush neighborhood, is already happening, and it's set to open this winter.
Bojangles' CEO, Jose Armario, said, "It's a monumental moment as we're entering the New York Metropolitan area again. The East Coast is eager for the real southern charm that Bojangles offers, and we're excited to show locals something new."
The 20 New York City locations are part of a bigger plan to bring over 50 new spots to the greater New York City and New Jersey areas, with chances to expand across New York State too.
This isn't Bojangles' first try in New York City. In the 1980s, it had a short stint there but left and didn't come back. It's been decades since New Yorkers could order a Cajun Chicken Biscuit, and some people are already pumped.
One Reddit user from North Carolina said, "Very happy to see this little piece of home in NYC."
Another Redditor said, "I'm about to BO OUT. Gonna spend my whole paycheck on this place. Who will match me?"
Yet another Redditor thinks Bojangles has "good quality southern food, served fast," and that the biscuits are approved by "southern grandmas."
Even though it's still a few months away, we're already looking forward to going to the opening of the Flatbush location and having a warm chicken biscuit on a cold winter day.
